Newcastle, WA – The Newcastle City Council has appointed long-time resident and community leader Jim Quigg to fill the vacant Position 4 seat. The decision was made during the council meeting on December 3, 2024, concluding a selection process that attracted ten applicants.

Mayor Robert Clark expressed confidence in Quigg's appointment, stating, "We were incredibly impressed by the caliber of applicants who stepped forward to serve our community. Jim Quigg’s exceptional professional background and deep commitment to Newcastle stood out. We are confident his leadership and experience will greatly benefit our city."

Quigg, a Newcastle resident since 2013, brings over 25 years of experience in negotiation, governance, and community leadership. In his role as Technology Sourcing Manager at T-Mobile, he has trained teams, resolved complex disputes, and led national governance initiatives. His community involvement includes serving as Vice Chair of the Newcastle Planning Commission, President of the Vineyard Homeowners Association, and organizing local events such as the Newcastle Christmas Tree Lighting and the Lake Boren Egg Hunt.

Quigg is scheduled to take the oath of office at the council meeting on January 7, 2025. In the interim, he will conclude his duties with the Planning Commission. Mayor Clark added, "We are grateful to the residents who applied and thank them for their willingness to serve Newcastle. We welcome Jim Quigg to the council and look forward to working with him as we plan for Newcastle’s future."

The Newcastle City Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at City Hall, starting at 7 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and provide an opportunity for residents to engage with their local government.
